The Galway Clinic, a Royal College of Surgeons & National University of Ireland (Galway) Affiliated Teaching Hospital, is a leading 153 bed, state of the art independent hospital situated on the outskirts of Galway.

Urology Fellow (Robotics) 1 Year starting July 2019

‘The Galway Clinic was the first center in Ireland to be accredited with ERUS Host Center status by the European Robotic Urological Society subsection of the EAU. The successful applicant will go through a structured modular training programme in robotic surgery including high level dry and wet lab and didactic training in the ERUS training Center in Belgium, leading to the gaining of an EUA/ERUS approved certificate of completion of training in advanced robotic surgery which is soon to become mandatory in the credentialing of robotic surgeons in Europe

This fellowship will consist of one year post-graduate training in Urology focusing on robotic assisted surgery for prostate cancer and other urological conditions. Clinical activities will include 4-5 operating sessions per week, daily inpatient management, attendance at multidisciplinary surgical meetings and assessing patients presenting to the Emergency Department with acute urological problems. Clinical research opportunities are available. Candidates should have significant previous urological experience, preferably at Registrar/Specialist Registrar level

Essential qualifications:

  • Registration with Medical Council of Ireland.
  • Intercolegiate MRCS or equivalent
